Entry the First

Hello all -

This is the first post of the new RCHS blog. We've decided thus far to post student submissions of art, nonfiction, poetry, and fiction - specifically, submissions for the Podium Literary Journal. After submissions close in late January/early February and Podium goes to press, we'll probably continue posting submissions from interested students depending on interest and manpower. Maybe we'll even add more stuff beyond literary and art submissions; who knows. If you have any ideas, comments, and/or submissions for the RCHS blog or Podium in RCHS, email: PodiumRCHS@gmail.com !

About Podium:
Four submission categories:

  • Nonfiction - writings about something that happened to you, editorials, opinion pieces, etc.
  • Fiction - short stories, flash fiction, allegories, etc.
  • Poetry - sonnets, slam poetry, song lyrics, etc.
  • Art - paintings, photography, sculpture (photographed for submission), etc.

All entries must be 8"x11" or smaller; in other words, make sure it's the size of a printer sheet or smaller. You can use class assignments or old works. Not all pieces will be chosen for the journal, but ALL Richmond Community submissions will be featured here for the world to enjoy (unless, of course, you specify that you don't want your submissions posted)! You may submit as many pieces as you like, and if you so desire, you may submit pieces anonymously or under a pen name.

Entries may be submitted via email at PodiumRCHS@gmail.com or in submission boxes placed throughout the school (check in the english classrooms, art classrooms, and the office).

The contest: We have been challenged by Open. The school that submits the most pieces to Podium wins. Loser has shame and dishonor heaped upon them. RCHS cannot stand for this!

Stay tuned for submissions and more updates!
